East Flatbush, Brooklyn: Shantel Davis, a 23-year-old Black woman, was killed by NYPD Officer Phillip “Bad Boy” Atkins, who is infamous for his brutal and disrespectful treatment of neighborhood residents. Atkins shot Shantel while she was trapped behind the airbag of the car she was driving, after it crashed at the corner of Church Ave and East 38th St. She was unarmed. A grand jury has never been convened in this case and Atkins has not been charged. Shantel's sister Natasha Duncan, aunt Angie Hicks and their family continue to demand justice for her and others who have lost their lives to police violence.
The Shantel Davis Committee for Justice and Beyond formed after her murder. For more info and to support the movement for Justice for Shantel, please visit their Facebook page.
