Cop Watch Conference 2013

Click here for Photo Gallery  On September 27-28, 2013, Peoples' Justice member organizations Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, the Justice Committee & CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities organized a national Cop Watch Conference. The conference took place at The Point CDC, located in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the South Bronx. Opening night was a festive celebration, complete with powerful speeches from Annette Warren Dickerson and Keynote Speaker Lumumba Bandele. Saturday was a full day of panel discussions, workshops, and group exercises based all around building Cop Watch skills and related knowledge. It was beautiful to build and share skills, practices, resources, and ideas with over 100 Cop Watchers and police accountability organizers from New York City, Philly, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Oakland, Minneapolis, Providence, New Jersey, Massachusetts and beyond. Our goal was to collectively envision and develop a Cop Watch community that is stronger, more unified and better prepared to affect real change within our communities, and has greatly strengthened our relationships and movement nationwide!
